Quek Hong ShinĀ is a freelance illustrator who has illustrated several picture books includingĀ The Marvellous Sugee Cake,Ā The Amazing Sarong,Ā The Incredible Basket,Ā The Brilliant Oil Lamp,Ā Inuka,Ā Lollyās SecretĀ and the Ahoy, Navy! series for the Republic of Singapore Navyās fiftieth anniversary.Ā The Amazing Sarongāthe first book he wrote and illustratedāwas shortlisted for Best Childrenās Title at the 2016 Singapore Book Awards, and the 2018 Hedwig Anuar Childrenās Book Award.Ā The Incredible BasketĀ won the 2019 Singapore Book Awards for Best Childrenās Picture Book. Hong Shin conducts workshops for primary-school children and is an advocate for Superhero Me, an inclusive arts movement for children with special needs. He promotes local culture to the young through his works and storytelling.
